International Business Systems Receives Food Logistics Magazine's FL100+ Award

International Business Systems (IBS), a mid-market integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Warehouse Management System (WMS) and supply chain provider, recently announced receipt of Food Logistics Magazine’s FL100+ Award.

IBS' received the award for their ERP and WMS distribution software, preferred for consistently improving operational efficiencies and business performance for mid-market companies challenged by the complexities of managing distribution.

For the 12th consecutive year, Food Logistics selected the FL100+ Award winner to recognize “the companies whose products and solutions benefit the food and beverage industry in multiple ways – from reducing food waste and extending shelf life to facilitating safe and sanitary transportation of product while assuring regulatory compliance.”

Clampitt Paper Chooses IBS For Managing Price Complexities, Sales Process and Customer Experiences

Dallas-based Clampitt Paper, a family owned and operated paper merchant since 1941, has selected IBS Business Suite 2015 to take the company to its next level of growth. Clampitt Paper sells directly to large- and small-scale printers, creative designers, end users, and retail customers. With 22 locations, Clampitt Paper converts rolls of paper, weighing several tons, into cut sheets of paper, varying in texture and dimensions, to meet the needs of its customers. The company will leverage IBS Enterprise, an ERP platform, to replace a 15-year-old IT system and improve its operating efficiency.

“We selected IBS for its attractive total cost of ownership and the capabilities of its software platform to help us manage growth,” said Gary Klusman, CFO at Clampitt Paper. IBS Business Suite 2015, a second generation supply chain platform, helps companies manage inventory levels and cost throughout their distribution channels, minimizing operating cash requirements and enhancing customer service for improved revenues.

One of the key attributes of IBS Business Suite 2015 is the configurability of the software to a company’s business processes leading to the ability to automate complex pricing in a myriad of ways to address the immediate business needs. Mayflex Makes Connections With IBS

British-based distributor Mayflex is a successful, privately-owned distributor with a respected name and a proven track record in partnering installers and integrators. Mayflex needed to find supply chain software for its complex distribution network and systems. The business had grown at such a rapid rate that it became necessary to consolidate all the old software into one new integrated solution.

The company also found it very difficult to trace financial transactions that originated from sales orders. Other problems included the lack of an integrated warehouse management system with links to radio-frequency bar code readers and the ability to cope with the company’s complex pricing and discount structures. The old software was unable to handle customer queries and supplier claims.

Mayflex evaluated six different software solutions before selecting the integrated supply chain software solution, IBS Enterprise. Since the initial implementation, state-of-the-art automated storage devices have been installed with interfaces to IBS Enterprise, providing a 100 percent automated pick and pack process. Sales orders are picked quickly, correctly and efficiently. Consignment stock warehouses are easier to maintain, and reconciliation of customer returns is streamlined. Credit control information such as customer status, transactions and payment details make the process of resolving customer debt more visible and easier to control. Financial postings derived from transactions within distribution can be traced back through to the original transaction, resulting in ease of reconciliation and/or investigation.

Improved Business Flow For Simoldes Plasticos With IBS Enterprise

Simoldes Plasticos is one of the world’s leading developers and suppliers of injected plastic moldings for the automotive industry. It’s one of two divisions of the Simoldes Group – the other division, Simoldes Tools, makes the molds. With three factories in Portugal, two in Brazil as well as one in France and Poland, Simoldes Plasticos offers a service to the world’s global motor manufacturers.

But this, says Pedro Pinho, IT Director at the company’s headquarters in Oliveira de Azemeis in northern Portugal, was part of the problem. “We had a lot of information, all based on different systems, and the linking all of this information was very time consuming. It was hard to control efficiency and the total process.”

After looking at a number of software suppliers to find the right solution, they chose IBS Enterprise Financials. An important point for Simoldes was that the software was easy to use and install. IBS also designed special sub-projects and interfaced the system with Simoldes’ production and logistics software. Simoldes has also implemented IBS Corporate Data Maintenance (CDM) software. This solution integrates and coordinates the flow of business information between Simoldes’ different units and legal entities helping the company achieve substantial savings and benefits. Company-wide collaboration and sharing of data helps improve the use of resources through aggregating and automating company processes. With IBS CDM, Simoldes has taken steps to achieve online control of its total enterprise finances – a must in today’s economy. But the important thing is that Simoldes has got what it wanted: prompt figures from all of its facilities in a simple, compatible format which allows for accurate decision making.

To read more about the Simoldes Plasticos implementation, as well as other case studies, white papers, and events, visit the IBS Newsroom.

Phocas Gives Homeware Supplier Caprice Big Data Insights

Formed in 1959, Caprice is a Australian-based family-owned business with a long heritage. The business employs close to 150 people, and supplies more than 15,000 products across half a dozen categories, ranging from bed linen to footwear and luggage. Caprice's customers include Spotlight, Kmart, Target, Briscoes, Farmers and The Warehouse and are consider the single largest home textile buyer and distributor in Australia and New Zealand.

When the company began its search for a BI tool, the Phocas team's solution provided an extremely good demonstration that showed exactly the kind of high-level information key decision-makers needed.

Before the Phocas Xpress implementation, Caprice used ad hoc reports to extract data from their system, and uploaded the information to Microsoft Excel. The process was cumbersome and hard for people to use on a daily basis.

Caprice now uses Phocas Xpress in conjunction with their existing ERP system, IBS Enterprise. System data is updated overnight, putting the latest information at the fingertips of the company’s divisional general managers each morning. Because of this, the benefits of monitoring sales and inventory management are most striking. The company estimates that the overall annual savings to the business is at least A$500,000 which has been achieved by reducing the amount of reporting staff and stock that wasn't selling.

As a result of the Phocas implementation, Caprice has improved their inventory management choices and the high-quality data that is extracted allows managers to make decisions about the quantities and lines needing to be ordered. Having the right items in stock in the right quantities has also resulted in improved customer relationships — and in the business world, satisfied customers are priceless.

To read more about Phocas Xpress, and view additional case studies, visit the Phocas Newsroom.

Ardo Automates New Facilities With IBS

Ardo, a family-owned producer, packager and distributor of frozen vegetables, fruit, pasta and rice, recently merged with Dujardin Foods Group. As a result, Ardo operates 20 production, packing and distribution units in eight European countries, and employs more than 3,800 people. The company produces and sells in excess of 805,000 tons of food worldwide, with an estimated consolidated turnover of €815 million.

As a result of the merger, the company's warehouse management system (WMS) needed updating and automation. The primary objective would be to integrate with Ardo’s cold store refrigeration system, streamline business processes to facilitate accurate, on-time order fulfillment, and reduce ongoing manual labor and cost. IBS was selected and the implementation team worked closely with Ardo management to ensure a strict timeline was maintained through regular, ongoing communication and accurate level-setting. The IBS Dynaman system was integrated with Ardo’s ERP system, as well as the Savoye warehouse control system, Datapolis SCADA system, Transwide transportation planning and communication software, and Easyform document management system to ensure a cohesive, efficient operation.

As the project unfolded, specialized functional requirements were exposed, including specific schedulers for box picking and label requirements, among others. The IBS team customized solutions to accommodate these special cases and support seamless, end-to-end performance.

By summer of 2014, the IBS Dynaman solution was up and running. The newly installed WMS effectively verifies that the correct pallets are distributed to the correct trucks by optically verifying the labels on the pallets. The Dynaman system has reduced the number of distribution errors by eliminating much of the manual labor, where each worker had a unique way of doing things using Excel spreadsheets. Inconsistencies and errors have been reduced by more than 90 percent.

To read more about the IBS implementation at Ardo, as well as additional case studies and whitepapers, visit the IBS Newsroom.
