Radians Solve Complex Data Challenges With Infor

Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, Radians creates safety solutions — including masks, gloves, glasses, hard hats and respirator wipes — for the industrial safety and construction, public safety, sporting goods, hardware, DIY, and lawn & garden markets. The company’s decision to replace its legacy system with a new Infor Cloud technology suite will help propel it strongly into the future.

The value, capabilities, and benefits of the new software go far beyond easy access to centralized data and higher rates of customer serviceability. Radians will be able to better manage performance, risk, and the impact of business decisions across multiple departments, including supply chain logistics, sales and marketing, product data, finance, networking, and warehouse and cartonization functions.

In addition to CloudSuite Distribution Enterprise, Radians also selected Infor CloudSuite WMS, a Leader in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Warehouse Management Systems. The streamlined, holistic supply chain suite will help Radians ensure on-time deliveries and efficient warehouse utilization, while improving purchasing goals and reducing inventory costs.

Radians is also implementing Infor Dynamic Enterprise Performance Management (d/EPM). Combining modern intelligent business tools and financial performance management capabilities into one solution, d/EPM will enable Radians to consistently report with confidence, measure past and current performance, and forecast future activities.

Future Supply Chains Increases Efficiency With Infor

Established in April 2007, Future Supply Chains Solutions Ltd is India's first fully integrated end-to-end supply chain services company. Future Supply Chains had warehouses spread across the country with very little infrastructure. As this range of warehouses operated on a labor-intensive and manpower dependent model, Future Supply Chains found it extremely difficult to keep track of inventory while also managing additional storage. With an ever-increasing number of SKUs and volumes, the company needed a state-of-the-art Warehouse Management System (WMS).

The volume of retail business handled by Future had increased threefold when compared to the volumes handled a few years back, and as result of this growth, they were facing the challenge of handling a large number of SKUs, spread across many different product categories including fashion, home, food, and furniture and consumer durables.

The company created a team to do the ground work in terms of business logic and strategy and at the same time it started analyzing the best of breed WMS products available in the market that catered to its needs. "We liked Infor as it had better architectural concepts that made it more scalable and reliable," says Samson Samuel, COO and CIO, Future Supply Chains. "However, we selected it not only due to the features and functionalities of the product, but also because Infor had an ecosystem of existing partners and a strong presence across India in terms of manpower, offices, and clients. Infor was associated with us right from the start of our quest for a WMS. All this, coupled with Infor's willingness to provide support, clinched the deal for them. In fact, we rated Infor 5 out of 5 on our requirements."

Seeing results
The benefits of the Infor WMS implementation are now visible across the organization. “A pull system based on actual demand has now replaced a push system that ran on forecasted demand. Shelf management has improved tremendously. In fact, the overall way in which the business and operations now work has improved drastically,” describes Singh.

The Infor WMS has also helped the company rationalize its warehouse structure design decisions. The company is now able to handle a very large number of SKUs and ensure 100% stock accuracy as the stock is totally visible online. It is also possible to do stock corrections in real time since all entries are online. Through Infor WMS, Future Supply Chains can now track and measure what each person is doing or contributing. The Infor WMS solution ensures the company has access to accurate stock measurements, visibility of stocks across the DCs, and tail stock clearance. The shrinkages have gone down. Stock replacement and refill rates have reached an efficiency level of more than 90%.

For Future Supply Chains, it is difficult to visualize operating its warehouse business without Infor’s WMS systems. Due to extensive tracking and measurement capabilities, the company is aware at all times as to what is happening with each SKU in the warehouse. “The Infor WMS is a perfectly running system today. The implementations are now working at 99% efficiency. Some DCs are even working at 100%. It has helped establish a system-based, technology-based, and process-based model of business. It ensures minimum or no shrinkage, high accuracy, very low time and optimum cost to market, security, and on-time distribution to the customer.” concludes Singh.

Impact Products Boosts Warehouse Potential With Interlink

Impact Products, LLC, based in Toledo, Ohio, is an international marketer of branded and private-label non-chemical commercial cleaning, maintenance and safety products. Impact's products includes a full line of microfiber, cleaning/dusting/mopping equipment, receptacles, washroom, dispensing, material handling, gloves, and safety products. Impact utilizes multiple channels of distribution to reach the end user in the sanitary maintenance, food service, safety and industrial markets.

Impact's distribution facility operated in a paper driven environment. Warehouse transactions were not real-time, labor intensive, prone to error and inhibited multi-shift operations. Impact decided improving and automating the warehouse processes with a Warehouse Management System (WMS) would allow for continued growth in the existing facility. Interlink's software, Warehouse-LINK®, offered Impact a warehouse operations solution through the use of desktop applications and Radio Frequency (RF) devices.

Interlink also developed an order planning function, which enables the user to quickly organize order information in a user customized format. This process affords the user the ability to plan over a future time horizon, direct pick location replenishment and release order processing by individual pick modules - all at the click of a mouse.

The most immediate improvement Impact experienced was the real time processing of transactions within Warehouse-LINK®. The visibility to the entire operation by the management staff has significantly reduced decision making time. The management team is now in more control of the order process and shipping. The shipping team can now see all order details and status of each item throughout the picking process. The ability to seamlessly transition to a multiple shift operation is another significant key feature. Warehouse-LINK® software has eliminated non-value added activities from the legacy system. This resulted in a 17% reduction in warehouse labor. Recent order processing volumes have increased 13% over the same period in the previous year. Said Brian Paul, Vice President of Operations at Impact Products, "Our partnership with Interlink has enabled growth and efficiency that we would not have otherwise been able to accomplish."

Bruce Supply Chooses Mincron's Warehouse Manager

For more than thirty years, Bruce Supply Corp., a distributor of plumbing, heating, electrical, PVF, drainage and specialty products, has been serving customers in New York City and the surrounding areas. Bruce Supply operates from four locations — two in Brooklyn, NY, one in Valley Stream, NY, and one in Keasbey, NJ.

In looking for a Warehouse Manager System application at their new distribution center in New Brunswick, NJ, Bruce Supply chose Mincron, and earlier this year went live with Mincron's StockSmart. Mincron’s 100% implementation success rate and flexible, scalable, integrated system were key attributes for adoption.

The StockSmart warehouse management system allows distributors to accurately and quickly ship orders while maintaining 99.9% inventory accuracy. It is designed to work equally well with small branch warehouses as well as massive distribution centers. The system automates warehouse workloads, minimizes disruptions and enables management to react and respond quickly to meet any of their customers’ special needs. It also helps distributors maximize their use of available space, equipment and personnel.

Frozen food distributor Ardo Increases Customer Satisfaction With Iptor

Ardo, a family-owned producer, packager and distributor of frozen vegetables, fruit, pasta and rice based in Ardooie, Belgium, merged with Dujardin Foods Group in 2014. With 20 production, packing and distribution units in eight European countries, Ardo employs more than 3,800 people. The company handles 805,000 tons of food worldwide, with an estimated consolidated turnover of €815 million.

As a result of the expansion, Ardo needed an integrated solution for their cold store refrigeration system. Logistical flows were not fully automated and material flows between product, semi-finished inventory and packaging stages were often long and complex, involving error- prone manual labor. In addition, a solution would need to hold up under high volume traffic. Tight schedules would need to be maintained throughout, especially during peak seasons, when service levels were at their most tenuous.

Iptor was selected based on its proven track record, acceptable functional fit and reasonable price. Iptor’s solution would be integrated with Ardo’s ERP system, aka “IDAS,” as well as the Savoye warehouse control system, Datapolis SCADA system, Transwide transportation planning and communication software, and Easyform document management system to ensure a cohesive, efficient operation.

As the project unfolded, specialized functional requirements were exposed, including specific schedulers for box picking and label requirements, among others. The Iptor team customized solutions to accommodate these special cases and support seamless, end-to-end performance.

Peter Schotte, Ardo’s lead IT analyst on the project, said “Iptor’s solution increased our efficiency, decreased our errors and reduced our rate of damaged goods significantly. They made the entire implementation process easy on us, leading to a marked improvement in overall operational costs and improved customer service levels.”

To read more about Iptor and the Ardo case study, visit Iptor's Customer News page on their website.

M&B Products Increases Profits, Customer Satisfaction With Interlink's WMS

M&B Products, Inc. is a supplier of juice and milk related products to the food service industry including schools, nursing homes, hospitals and prisons. Located in Temple Terrace, Florida the business was founded in 1987 and has grown into a distribution network throughout 33 states.

M&B's warehouse operations used a paper driven system that could not offer real-time information and therefore forecasting decisions were based on best guesses and hoping that product would be available. The lack of real-time knowledge did not allow efficient use of space and required M&B to use additional outside storage with limited knowledge of what was actually in outside storage. Physical inventory was performed every month. It was a very time consuming process that did not yield real-time or accurate numbers.

As the business grew, the paper system was unable to provide a guarantee that they were shipping the oldest product first. M&B's requirements for a WMS included interfacing smoothly with the existing accounting solution on the IBM iSeries platform, as well as address the top three business priorities: 1.Customers were getting properly dated product
2.They were shipping the oldest product first
3.They were using real, live, actual inventory information of what was on hand to manage inventory levels

Since implementing Interlink Technologies' Warehouse-LINK® WMS system, M&B has accurate, live inventory that is traceable and designed to provide the best possible customer experience. Another important benefit achieved by implementing Warehouse-LINK® WMS is efficient space utilization and the ability to conduct inventory cycle counts. M&B uses the cycle count feature to confirm physical inventory, which makes the process a lot faster. Through the Warehouse-LINK® system staff are able to confirm inventory count with a might higher degree of accuracy than before.

To learn more about Warehouse-LINK® WMS and the services Interlink Technologies can provide to you business, visit the Interlink website.
