Trade Supply Group Sees Immediate ROI With SMP

Trade Supply Group (TSG), based in New York, focuses on the building products industry to both trade and retail consumers; the company is comprised of five different business units, each facing their own set of marketplace challenges.

Finding the ‘sweet spot’ between what the company needed collectively and each business unit needed individually was essential when identifying a sales management and CRM platform with which to partner.

With extensive experience in the sales management and CRM space, and working with ‘umbrella corporations’ comprised of multiple business units, SMP fit TSG's needs perfectly. TSG business System Administrator, Scott Sokoly, who managed the SMP implementation, said,“SMP was willing to work with us based or staff needs, and the incremental rollout was important to us instead of pushing everything ‘day one’.”

TSG Vice President of Operations, Nick Aversano added, “It really was easy; we saw no issues with data accuracy and almost no tweaks needed to make it all work.” In just a few short weeks, the implementation phase for Sales Management Plus was complete, and the team quickly moved on to training and rollout among the five business units. Said Aversano, “The phased rollout approach has helped to ensure a good first impression, and helped us make sure each team is getting what they need before we add on more. We think we have an idea of what the problem areas are that we need to resolve in each business entity, but we really want to listen to what they’re wasting time on, holes in their processes today, and so on, so we can then show them how to use SMP to answer those problems.” Sokoly added, “We focused on what’s important to the team first, then next, and next. Early success has helped up with easier buy-in as we add on more details and corporate requirements for SMP.”

As for their goals for SMP inside their organization? Aversano and Sokoly were quick to offer that SMP has become part of their corporate culture. TSG sees SMP as their one stop solution for bid follow-up, task tracking, sales analysis and managing the overall customer relationship. “We want everyone to see how it’s really working to improve our processes and business success,” Sokoly said. And Aversano followed, “we want to ensure it’s visible to everyone and we’re using it as our go-to to capture everything for all our bids and projects.”

Blue Microphones Integrates Marketing And Engineering With NetSuite

Founded in 1995 by an American jazz musician and a Latvian recording engineer, Blue Microphones of Westlake, CA underwent rapid growth when sales of its Snowball USB mic, built for use with Apple’s GarageBand, took off. With 30 to 35 percent annual growth, the company quickly outgrew its existing QuickBooks accounting system which couldn’t address the need for multi-currency transactions as well as integration with marketing and engineering systems.

Opportunities and Challenges:
As part of a sale to a private equity firm, Blue Microphones recognized the need to modernize its IT environment. It needed a modern, cloud-based system that could handle multi-currency transactions, inventory management and not only scale with its growth but adapt to changing business conditions.

Real-time visibility and cost savings:
Blue Microphones is saving two full-time employees by converting to NetSuite, an annual savings of $80,000; while its 3PL partners in Amsterdam and Hong Kong now have access to NetSuite through a portal to fulfill orders, which has helped improve accuracy and efficiency. Blue Microphones is now incorporating customer feedback directly into its back office software to improve its products and the company was awarded the prestigious 2016 Manufacturing Leadership (ML) Award in the “Enterprise Leadership” category from Frost and Sullivan’s ML Council.

Shippers Supply Enhances Business Intelligence With Tour De Force

Shippers Supply, Inc. is an independently owned and operated wholesale distributor of shipping, packaging, industrial and productivity/equipment solutions. Founded in 1928 in Hopkins, Minnesota, the company has 32 employees and serves the upper Midwest.

Shippers Supply had outgrown their current systems and needed a more complete solution that would provide CRM, SFA (sales force automation), BI (business intelligence), and would sync data from their Infor10 Distribution Express (FACTS) ERP system. They also wanted a system that would allow them to access information from mobile devices and would give them the ability to analyze and manage their sales pipeline.

The team at Shippers Supply chose Tour de Force CRM because of its integration with Microsoft Outlook and the Infor FACTS ERP system, and its overall configurability. Tour de Force CRM was also able to provide the full range of functionality that Shippers Supply was looking for: a complete CRM and SFA solution that would allow them to their sales pipeline and would provide their sales team with mobile access.

Shippers Supply went live with most departments in the company using the system, including Customer Service, Purchasing, Sales, Management, Accounting, and the Service Department. Sarah Zaporski, Database Administrator, recalls that her fellow employees “were really excited when we brought Tour de Force CRM on. We’ve had some additional training since the implementation, and some of our sales reps that may have been behind the curve as far as technology goes have really started getting into it. They’ve all found it to be very user friendly.”

According to Jeff Schuppe, Director of Sales and Marketing at Shippers Supply, “The Tour de Force CRM system gives us the ability to link the past with the future. We are very excited to tie our sales pipeline into our strategic business planning process. It will help us to make more calculated business decisions as we continue with our aggressive growth initiatives.” In addition to the business planning features in Tour de Force CRM, Shippers Supply also plans to start using the advanced reporting functions, the Alerts and Notifications module, and plans to implement tablets for their outside sales team.

Phocas Lights Up the Data of AEL Electrical Distributors

Established since 1981, AEL is an electrical distributor based in Aberdeen, Scotland. AEL specializes in the supply of control, automation and hazardous area electrical equipment to the oil and gas, marine, petrochemical, renewable and energy sectors. AEL has grown quickly and organically over the past 5 years and now includes offices in Houston; USA, Tema; Ghana, Baku; Azerbaijan and Atryau; Kazakhstan. Their main customers are drilling contractors, panel builders and offshore module builders. The lack of valuable information was hampering the ability of the management team and business development team.

This lack of valuable information was hampering the ability of the management team and business development team to:
•Organize the customers in tiers
•Report the sales
•Match the sales to specific contacts in the CRM system
•Analyze the customers sales and target marketing activity to the customer or sector
•Analyze AEL’s purchasing record allowing for better management of the store and stock

Because of this, AEL implemented Phocas’s Business Intelligence and CRM solutions. One of AEL’s most interesting and significant uses of Phocas is using the system to analyze their On Time in Full (OTIF) percentages. Their OTIF system works by taking the date from the sales order, the date from the line item, the date the item was receipted into AEL, the date receipted out to the customer and the invoice date. Phocas then uses these dates to work out whether the goods were received into AEL on time, late or early; and it also uses the dates to work out if the goods were received by the customer on time, late or early.

The benefit of using both Phocas CRM and Phocas BI for AEL is that the users can see sales figures and by clicking a button be taken to the person / account in the CRM system and vice versa. This allows the data to be linked and allows for tasks to be set for the business development team depending on the data received. This link makes the role of the business development team easier, as only one system is used, allowing for effective and efficient training.

Heitek Automation Improves Metrics With Tour de Force

Based in Phoenix, AZ, Heitek Automation is an industrial automation distributor. A business decision was made to implement Tour de Force's BYOR Reports. Says Cory Comer, Heitek's Marketing Manager, had the following to say, “Prior to BYOR, our sales metrics came from multiple different locations, making it difficult to see exactly what was going on not only from a corporate level, but from a territory level as well. With the addition of BYOR, not only were we able to create a “dashboard” with all of our relevant metrics, we created the same report for our sales guys so they can track their goals. At a glance, we now are able to view our corporate metrics across three sales categories: bookings, sales, and profits, quickly extract our run-rates and % of our sales goals, our growth rates, and most importantly our gross-margin as a % of our sales (our goal is 30%). In addition, we can quickly see how each territory is performing against its goals, who is leading the pack, compare it to last year and the overall impact on our company’s bottom line. It’s fantastic!”

He also had this to say about Tour de Force's BYOR Industry Sales Report: “This report is especially dear to my heart as the Marketing executive for Heitek. Before BYOR, we were not able to determine our sales as they were distributed amongst industry segments. Early on, I implemented NAICS codes into our TDF Account data, but still couldn’t readily sum the totals in different segments. Now with BYOR, we are able to see our segments, broken out into 2, 3, 4, or 6 digit NAICS codes, compare growth rates in different sectors and validate our target industries against government industry data. This will make target marketing activities much easier, including prospecting, mailing and other activities. I love it!”

Epicor Enables Auto Parts Distributors To Easily Research, Place, and Track Special Orders

Epicor Software recently announced a new feature that enables users of Epicor® Vision® automotive aftermarket distribution software to quickly and easily research, place, and track special orders and drop-ship orders through their suppliers. This new capability—available through integration of the Vision solution with the GCommerce Virtual Inventory Cloud (VIC)—eliminates the need to call a manufacturer for pricing and availability and automates processing of special orders.

The VIC integration enables Vision software users to look up, price, place, and track special orders and drop-ship orders through the Vision solution’s electronic sourcing form. Electronic purchase orders are automatically generated and transmitted to the manufacturer through Epicor Parts Network connectivity, while purchase order numbers, advance shipping notices, and invoices flow back to the user’s Vision software, eliminating time-intensive paperwork.

By dramatically reducing the time and labor commonly associated with special orders, the new Vision software feature can help distributors increase revenue, save time, and provide a better customer experience, according to Jim Scrivner, president of Al’s Automotive Supply, a 14-location distributor serving the St. Louis metropolitan area. “Using the VIC integration on Vision software saves our counterpeople valuable time and helps us make more sales. With this integration, special orders happen seamlessly and get tracked inside Vision software all in one step. We look forward to transitioning to this feature for all major vendors."

Epicor Vision software is a next-generation solution for parts distributors targeting increased operational efficiency, stronger sales and margin growth, and exceptional customer satisfaction and loyalty. The software, which can be deployed either on premises or in the cloud, features world-class customer relationship management (CRM) tools, a centralized database, highly advanced price management and inventory capabilities, accounting, and comprehensive "central services" functionality for businesses that serve both company-owned and independent stores.

Neff Power Uses Tour de Force To Track And Analyze Sales Opportunities

Founded in 1965, Neff Power, Inc. is an Industrial Automation Distributor located in St. Louis, Missouri. Their primary focus is Electrical Control, Motion Control, and Fluid Power. Neff Power currently has 24 employees using the Tour de Force solution.

ERP INTEGRATION – BIGGEST BENEFIT
In addition to the CRM and Sales Force Automation features in Tour de Force, Neff Power has found that they get the biggest benefit from the integration to their TrulinX ERP system. Kevin Hogarth, Operations Manager for Neff Power, explains that “I can go into Tour de Force, and I can see all bookings yesterday for a specific number of territories, then I can drill down into other information that I need, look at open orders, open items, sales history, inquiries, etc. We also look at who are our biggest losers, biggest winners, our accounts that are up, and our accounts that are down."

BENEFITS FOR THE SALES TEAM
In the last several years, Neff Power has been able to move from strictly MRO type sales to more specialized larger projects. The addition of new product lines has given them an ideal mix of vendors that allows them to offer total system solutions to their customers. Tour de Force has contributed to this shift by giving Neff Power the ability to track and analyze their opportunities. They use the advanced profiling and filtering capabilities of Tour de Force to identify buying trends within their existing customer base, and then use that information to market their products and services to similar businesses.

With the addition of Tour de Force and TrulinX to their arsenal, and the increasing ability to provide total system solutions to their customers, Neff Power has been able to avoid feeling the repercussions of the recent economic turmoil. Hogarth states, “Tour de Force gives you a benchmark and shows you your goals, rather than just flying blind. We look at it and see which areas we need to improve in, so it’s a really good feedback device.”

Dunlop Tyres Reaches New Heights With Infor

Dunlop Aircraft Tyres manufactures world-class aircraft tires — and it has done so for more than 100 years. Today, the company holds the unique status of being the world’s only specialist manufacturer and retreader of aircraft tires.

In a recent interview with Stuart Hawker — Dunlop’s Head of Marketing and Business Intelligence — made it clear that the company is equally committed to providing quality customer service of the highest standard as well. Stuart shared how Dunlop is avoiding common pitfalls through its investment in Infor CRM.

He started by outlining some of the challenges the company faces:
  • a globally dispersed sales team.
  • the company is growing, and
  • because of the global nature of its business, the company had dispersed data sources that made it difficult to create a single, accurate picture of the customer.

The company looked to Infor to help them deploy a CRM platform that would provide better control of their data and create a single version of the truth that would enforce a more consistent approach in sales and account management.

Stuart singled out the Infor CRM Xbar in particular for the way it allows sales personnel to perform key CRM tasks without leaving Outlook. Easier access simplifies the entry of clean, consistent customer data that is the foundation for richer and more relevant customer engagement. Other features such as intuitive, user-friendly screens and streamlined workflow also help improve utilization by sales teams that would otherwise continue to rely on paper-based or Excel-driven practices for recording and tracking customer interactions.

Dunlop’s experience with Infor CRM is compelling evidence that it’s possible for a global enterprise to create the consistent and extendable sales processes and develop a single, accurate, and up-to-date picture of customers and their evolving needs – despite the challenges of a globally dispersed workforce and client base.

To read more of the interview, watch webinars, and learn more, visit the Infor Customer Experience Suite blog.
